Why we are here
Discovery Church Wroughton is a Christian Pentecostal Church that exists to help people in the local community to hear, understand and respond to the good news that Jesus Christ died to forgive their sins and give them God’s gift of eternal life.
History
Discovery Church Wroughton has been in the village for over 30 years. It was previously known as Wroughton Assemblies of God and started as a home group from Old Town Assemblies of God.
For a number of years we owned and met in the old Swan pub on Priors Hill before outgrowing it. We then moved to the Ellendune Community Centre thinking that it would not take long to find another home of our own. However it was not until June 2022 that the opportunity to relocate to the Gospel Hall on Markham Road came about.
Good News for Swindon
We are part of the Good News for Swindon relational network of churches and church leaders which grew out of a leader’s prayer breakfast started by Discovery Church. Good News for Swindon seeks to mutually support and encourage leaders and those involved in caring ministries across Swindon and hosts cross church events and praise and prayer evenings.
Evangelical Alliance
We are members of the Evangelical Alliance which is the oldest and largest evangelical unity movement in the UK. It is made up of hundreds of organisations, thousands of churches and tens of thousands of individuals, joined together for the sake of the gospel.
